After a long and very successful filming season of weddings and corporate events our family spent early December at Disneyland. We were also able to take our grandchildren Kaleya and Bo. We have a long tradition of creating a 360 degree HD panoramic Christmas PanoCard of our family every year:
To view the spectacular 360 degree Panorama, use your shift/control keys to zoom in and out and your mouse to explore and to turn the panorama.
One of my favorite moments of Alysssa and Eric's wedding day was one of the flower girls falling down as Alyssa was walking down the aisle. This was truly a a magical day! Many thanks to photographer Steve Anthony, DJ Larry Burow from Extreme Entertainment, and the helpful staff at the Forest House Lodge.
In over 1000 wedding ceremonies I've filmed over the last 20 years, this one was probably the hottest- 108 degrees at the wedding site. No amount of hydration seemed to help, and I was worried about our gear heating up and failing in the direct sunlight. But we made it through, and ended up with some fabulous footage of the day! Filmed in Auburn, CA. Some thoughts from the Mother of the Bride:
I just watched the short video again for the 5th time, it is so beautiful I just can’t stop! I really appreciate your artistry, the way you incorporated the audio with such sensitivity. You captured so many beautiful angles and integrated them into a lovely composition. I want you to know that I really appreciate all that has gone into this amazing video, what a treasure! Thank you so much for doing such an amazing job and especially considering once again (dare we mention it!) 108 degree weather!
We recently filmed Merlou and Ryan's Catholic wedding at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in midtown Sacramento. I've filmed her over 30 weddings at the Cathedral and each time I try and get a unique angle I've never shot before. This time, I brought our 20 foot-high mast and set it up discretely near one of the huge pillars with my tiny GoPro 3 Camera on top. The second video was captured later using the same technique at the reception at the Grand Ballroom a few blocks away. I think the results were spectacular. Below are still frames from the HD video captured by the GoPro:
Did I mention we film some of the most creative wedding couples? Missy and Matt met playing soccer at Sacramento State. Matt later played professionally. Their wedding photographer Jessica Stout captured the perfect shot that Missy and Matt envisioned. The typography was done at WeddingPaperDivas.com. We look forward to filming Matt and Missy's fabulous wedding at the Monte Verde Inn, near Auburn next June.
This is a truism of almost every happy marriage:) These signs were attached to the backs of the Bride and Groom's chairs at their David Girard Vineyard's Wedding Reception in Coloma, CA.
Whether you are hiring a DJ, a photographer, florist, event planner, or videographer for your wedding or event- a true professional will save you headaches and heartache in the end. I don't know how many events I've attended where the client saved several hundred dollars by hiring a family friend or 'budget' company to DJ- for example- only to have his gear fail, or play the wrong song during the first dance, or offend the guests.
Hiring a creative professional videographer or photographer is also critical, since those precious moving and still images will hold the memory of your day for you and for your loved ones for generations to come. A wedding couple recently hired me to film her wedding a few weeks before her event after the cinematographer she booked for substantially less stopped returning her emails and phone calls. Unfortunately, the bride may lose her entire deposit from that unscrupulous company. (Thanks to Brett Culp for this image link)
This was our first wedding trailer edited in the super-wide Cinemascope 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Robyn & Guido were a great match, and we had a wonderful time capturing the events of the day!
Beth was so radiant on her wedding day this film was easier than most to film and edit. ...and how can you ask for a more beautiful backdrop than the Sierra Nevada Mountains! Many thanks to all the wedding professionals that made this day perfect for Beth and Josh:
One of my most gratifying experiences as a professional wedding cinematographer is the reaction of our wedding couples (and in this case Brittny's mom) after viewing our work:
"OK - I've had a hard time breaking myself away from watching the highlight video of Nick & Brittny's wedding to email you a big THANK YOU!!! I was trying to see if I could actually watch it without shedding a tear, but just gave up. I don't know what to say... It really is a work of art. I truly mean that."
Thanks to all the great wedding professionals who made this such a fun and memorable event:
